Retired educator Dr. Harold Nolte worked with Texas colleges during his long and fruitful career, serving most recently at Blinn College. Dr. Harold Nolte further supports the people of Texas through charitable donations to local organizations, including Washington on the Brazos State Parks Association.

Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is a beautiful park in Washington, Texas. The park consists of just over 293 acres, spread out alongside the Brazos River. The park is special to Texas residents for reasons beyond its natural beauty and recreational value. Texas was born on that land right next to the Brazos, where the 1836 General Convention was held and the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed.

Visitors who would like to learn more about early life in Texas can check out the on-site Barrington Living History Farm, where actors in period clothing perform live demonstrations. The park also offers an informative visitor center and prime picnicking locations.
