Before taking on the position of president at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas, Dr. Harold Nolte worked as interim president at the school. He also spent several years as district president of Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, as well as president and provost of the Ellis County Colleges at Navarro College based in Waxahachie, Texas. Dr. Harold Nolte and his wife actively support several charitable endeavors, one of which includes Mission Brenham.
Established in 1994, Mission Brenham began as a way to help low-income families. Over the years, the Christ-based organization has grown to meet the needs of every family, regardless of economic status, race, ethnicity, and social background. It works closely with people in the city of Brenham and Washington County.
One of the fall fundraising events sponsored by Mission Brenham is its Ties and Tennies, with the 2015 event occurring on December 7 at the Janis Sneed Banquet Room held at the Blinn College Student Center. It honored Brenham High School coach Steve Puckett with the Troy Glasco Servant Leadership Award. Attendees wore semi-formal attire alongside their favorite or most outrageous tie or scarf and tennis shoes.
